Do you need to be a member of Elm Grove Lutheran Church to attend Elm Grove Lutheran School?

While our school is a mission of our congregation, we welcome families from the community to be a part of our school. You do not need to be a church member. Our pastors are always willing to talk with your family about our church’s teachings and how you can go about becoming a member. Our Lutheran identity is clearly demonstrated through each part of our school day--through Religion classes, our Chapel services, our behavioral expectations, and the true sense of Christian community.

Is your school accredited?

Elm Grove Lutheran School is accredited by National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA). A renewal of this accreditation status occurs every five years. The most recent re-accreditation study was completed in the 2016-2017 school year.

What are the class sizes? Are there combined grades in the classes?

All core classes at Elm Grove Lutheran School are single grades, although similar-aged grades combine for classes such as music and gym. Our class sizes average 10-12 which allows students to receive individual attention even within the classroom setting.

What are the hours of your school day?

PK3/PK 4, Kindergarten - 8th grade classes are held Monday through Friday, 8:05 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. We do offer before school care at 7:00am and after school care until 5:30pm at an additional cost. PK3 and PK4 half day hours are 8:05am-11:00am.

What extra-curricular events are available?

We offer Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls basketball, Girls Cheerleading, and Co-Ed soccer, all beginning in middle school. Cross Country is available for students in first grade and up. We also have PAWS (Student Council) and LEAD (our leadership group) for students in the upper grades. Students of all ages and their families enjoy coming to watch and cheer on our EGL athletes!

What music opportunities do you have?

Elm Grove Lutheran School values music education in many forms. All students participate in music and choir classes that culminate in performances such as the Christmas Concert, Musicals, Spring Fling, and Music Informance. Our Cherub and Middle School Choirs also sing regularly for our Sunday worship services. In addition, students in grades five through eight have the opportunity to participate in a handbell choir. Students in grades five through eight may take lessons on a band instrument through a program offered by a contracted band instructor. Lessons for students in fourth through eighth grade are also available on stringed instruments.

Do you have a hot lunch program?

We offer hot lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays through
private hot lunch companies. We are unable to offer free or reduced lunch
at this time.

What grades are at Elm Grove Lutheran School?

We are a PreK3-8th grade school. Our PreK and Kindergarten program is held Monday- Friday and offers both a half-day morning and a full-day option. Our middle school (5th-8th grades) is departmentalized with the classes traveling together among various teachers. We value the unique benefits of having younger grades and older grades in the same building and watching the students learn from each other.

What are the qualifications of your teachers?

Elm Grove Lutheran School is blessed with an experienced, enthusiastic staff. All teachers are certified through the Department of Public Instruction and Synodically trained through our church body. They are also expected to participate in regular professional development to continue to master their craft.

What curriculum do you use?

Elm Grove Lutheran School is established on the foundation of God's Word. All students receive daily instruction in the Scriptures as well as Lutheran doctrine and the application of these to daily living. The curriculum of Elm Grove Lutheran School is based upon the curriculum guides for Lutheran Elementary and Middle Schools entitled "Integrating the Faith " and from a study of the guidelines for elementary schools from the State of Wisconsin. More specific information on each of our curriculum areas can be obtained by contacting the school office.

When are your Chapel Services?

Chapel is held every week on Thursday morning at 8:15 am. Our Elm Grove Lutheran pastors as well as some area pastors lead the chapel services. Parents and friends are invited to join the school family in worship. Chapel offerings are designated for Christian mission projects. This stewardship program helps children grow in their response to the Lord's blessings.

What other events do you have?

We are an active school family! Our PTL regularly sponsors a Trunk or Treat, a family Christmas event, fundraising dinners at local restaurants and a spring Movie Night. Our Wildcat Walkathon and our All Fore Him Golf Outing, Dinner, & Auction are great opportunities to socialize and support our school. We also host the annual Spirit Tournament in February where we cheer on our Wildcat athletes, enjoy pep band music, paper airplane contests, and the best tournament food around!

Do you have busing?

We work with several local school districts for a transportation reimbursement program where certain districts provide a credit to families who live in the Elmbrook, New Berlin and Waukesha school districts, based on the child's attendance for the year.

We do not offer any transportation with busing at this time. Families are welcome to form carpools among themselves.

We offer several different options for families regarding tuition and fees. Elm Grove Lutheran School is a proud participant in both the Milwaukee School Choice Program and the Wisconsin Statewide School Choice program. Private financial aid is also available for families.
